PROMO & REVIEW: Sunset Series by C.R. Moss

The 'Sunset' series is a part of Decadent Publishing's 1Night Stand line of stories

'Sunset Desires' (book 1 of the 'Sunset' series)

~ Blurb ~

A blind date. A hot tropical evening. She’ll be someone he can’t forget. He’ll fulfill her ultimate fantasy.

Gwendolyn Tramonto is stunned to learn her cousin set her up with sex on the beach and it’s not the drink. But after a several year dry spell of no relationships, no dates…no sex, Gwen decides to take her cousin up on her offer and go out on the blind date. For once, she’d like to indulge in a fantasy, be wined and dined instead of the other way around, and if she and the man ended up in bed together, that would be a nice bonus.

Evan Cadell is looking forward to the date his uncle arranged for him through an exclusive matchmaking service and taking a one night break from work, life and all its demands. From Gwen’s profile, Evan knows what her fantasy is and believes he’s the man who can make it come true.

But will one night in paradise be enough to satisfy their desires?

“Do you like what you see?” His sinfully rich, accented voice carried across the room.

Heat filled her cheeks. With a hard gulp, she nodded, not able to take her focus off his beautiful body. Each toned muscle created a wonderful form, from his defined deltoids and biceps to a six pack abdomen she could wash a shirt on. She chuckled internally. Her descriptive thought pattern may have been cliché, but appropriate all the same. He strolled over to her, his tall form of rippling muscle closing and destroying the buffer between them.

“I hear your fantasy is to be on a tropical island.” Evan glanced off to the left where a large picture window framed the beach and water. “We have that part covered.” He stood behind her, their bodies an inch—maybe two—apart, returning his gaze to hers in the mirror. “That you wanted to be picked up by a handsome guy and by the looks I’ve been getting from you, I seem to have your approval.” Brushing a lock of hair behind her ear, he whispered, “And that you wanted to be in a private location for an erotic assignation. Isn’t that so?”

Images from vampire movies she’d seen over the years filled her mind. He may not have been a vampire, but he was just as sensual as one. What spurred on thoughts of Nosferatu? His voice? His confident moves? He inclined his head, his gaze transfixed on hers in a mesmerizing stare, almost daring her to deny the attraction. His mouth, so very close to her throat, let slip wicked hot breath against her skin. If he were a vampire, this would be the part where he’d bite her. She pushed the fictional thoughts aside, desiring reality, welcoming him to kiss her…lick her…suckle on the curve where her shoulder met her neck. She leaned back, bare parts of her skin encountering the hard planes of his chest.

“Shall we…?” His voice rumbled in his chest and against her back.

Shall we what? her mind screamed as sexual tension warred with her logic. She swallowed hard again. How much of her fantasy did he know?

'Sunset Seduction' (book 2 of the 'Sunset' series)

~ Blurb ~
One evening. One date. Easy, right?
Heather Tramonto, a business woman with only her career and a quickie on her mind, is all set for her 1NS date and a bit of adult fun–no conditions, no commitment–when a surprise shows up at her door.

Lane Stanwyck is entering the dating world after years of an estranged marriage and the passing of his hostile wife. When Madame Eve schedules an anonymous tryst for him–no conditions, no commitment–he believes it to be the perfect arrangement for his first time out in the dating field in ages. That is until he sees the woman of his dreams.

One night. No strings. That might be a problem for this pair.

He leaned back with a half-grin and a wink, and as if he knew her thoughts, did a quick flex of his biceps followed by his pectorals.

Always the ham. She twirled a finger in the fine strands of hair at the top of his well-defined chest, toying and playing with them, watching his skin ripple. Then she stroked her hand down his torso to his abdomen. Not as ripped as she recalled from their youth, but in shape all the same. Unzipping his pants, she remembered the first time she’d found herself on her knees in front of him. Clueless. For an intelligent girl, who’d graduated in the top ten of her class, she’d been pretty dense when it came to pleasuring a man. Lane had been patient and kind in his teachings and telling her what he liked. It surprised her she remembered his preferences after all these years.

“Raise your hips.” She gripped the waistbands of his pants and silk boxers. The clothes slid with ease down his legs to his ankles. One shoe gone, then the next. Followed by his apparel. She enjoyed unwrapping men like gifts to find the special prizes within. Lane lounged in naked glory before her. Modesty and shyness had never been part of his character.

He winked again. Seemed he’d grown from a confident man into a cocky SOB. She sat back, wondering if the date was a good idea. He’d hurt her, made her doubt her instincts concerning men. For years, she’d had a hard time trusting people, been filled with anger. There were times she still experienced a bit of rage over their relationship. But at the moment, none of that mattered. Horny as hell, desire and need flared within her. He’d be able to take care of her, satisfy her craving for intimacy, which was all she required from this endeavor anyway. She shoved all threads of remaining resentment to the wayside.

'Sunset Temptations' (book 3 of the 'Sunset' series)

~ Blurb ~
Can wishes come true in just one night?
Roommates, Ivy Tramonto and Kiran Emerson, are heading out for their blind dates set up through a prestigious matchmaking service. Neither know anything about the men they’re to meet at a charity event being held in a mountain resort, but they’re looking forward to the adventure and forgetting about all their problems for an evening.

Resort owner, Robert Bourbon, doesn’t have time to play the field, especially when he wants a polyamorous relationship. After requesting the services of Madame Eve, he’s matched with the perfect pair and believes life can’t get any better.

Everything seems to be going great, until a mistake one of them made comes back to haunt them.

Will they make it through the dilemma or will they miss out on having their true desires granted?

“You know you can always tap me.”

“True. But don’t you want to change things up? Experience something, someone different for once?”

“Yeah, that’s why I suggested finding a third for our arrangement. Spice up our routine.”

“I’d be all for it, but considering neither of us has found said person yet, I’m going to take what I can get through this date my cousin set up for me.”

“So am I.” He smiled, his straight, white teeth gleaming and his olive-toned skin shining in the golden glow of the afternoon sun. “Don’t worry. I’m not gonna cramp your style. I have my own person to meet up at the lodge.”

She loved her handsome, bisexual friend, and as long as he was on his own date, that meant he wouldn’t attempt to put the moves on hers. “Well, I guess it’s okay then. Get in the car. You can tell me all about whoever has invited you to the event on the way to pick up Seana.”

“Technically I haven’t met him yet.”

Processing his statement, she climbed into the driver’s seat. “What do you mean you haven’t met him yet?” She pulled out of their apartment complex and headed in the direction of her cousin’s place.

Kiran’s gaze darted everywhere, never landing on her. “Um…. I signed up with 1Night Stand, and tonight’s my date, too.”

Ivy stopped herself from slamming on the brakes. “Where did you get the money to pay for the service? Huh? I know you’re as broke as I am. We’ve lost our jobs. We’re losing our rental. If you had cash stashed somewhere, we could have used it for a new apartment lease. I know you want—”

“You’re rambling.” He placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed. “I want a partner. You’ve always understood that.” Her roommate released her, shifted in his seat, then played with a frayed string on his jeans. “Most of the guys I’ve met are self-centered assholes who don’t have sense enough to treat their significant other right. I’d like to meet a nice man, for once. When I emailed Madame Evangeline at 1Night Stand and told her I was a friend of yours and Heather’s, she was happy to accommodate me. That’s why she arranged for my night to be the same one as yours and Seana’s.”

 “And the money?”

Silence rolled thick from the other seat. Her instincts screamed trouble.

 “Kiran?”

 He cleared his throat. “Well….”

She’d seen and heard this nervousness from him before. That time he’d gotten into a little trouble with some bad dudes. Could he have done so again? She shot a quick glance at him. His skin seemed on the pale side. Her sixth sense dinged. “Oh no. You didn’t.”

'Sunset Heat' (book 4 of the 'Sunset' series)

~ Blurb ~
Can one night transform a woman’s life?

Seana Tramonto feels doomed when it comes to relationships. When she’s set up through the 1Night Stand service, she’s apprehensive at best. Her concern turns to ire when her match turns out to be a man who broke her heart years ago. Old wounds are slow to heal no matter how sexy the man asking for forgiveness.

Zachary Russo, a Las Vegas policeman, is talked into doing a 1NS date. When he learns it’s with his high school tutor and friend, the girl he stood up before the Homecoming dance, he’s determined to make it up to her. But seeing her again opens his eyes to the sexy woman she’s become. Can he prove he’s grown up or will circumstance beyond his control kill their second chance?

~ Excerpt ~

“I had it bad for you.”

 “So, what’s your wish now?”

If she leaned toward him, turned just enough, maybe he’d kiss her. Did she have the nerve? What would he think of her advance?

 “Seana?”

She closed her eyes, relishing the silky way he spoke her name. “Hmm?”

“Your wish. You’re going to enter the drawing the charity is having, right?”

“I can’t say or it won’t come true,” she murmured. Just move your face toward his. Do it! Though her inner diva cheered her on, she couldn’t.

“A superstition for shooting stars and birthday candles.”

“So? I don’t want to take chances.” Yes you do, her inner cheerleader chided.

He brushed his cheek against hers. Warm breath caressed her ear. Restless throbs of desire pulsed in her veins. Sexual excitement curled in her womb. It’d been quite some time since feeling those particular sensations. Who’d I do it with last? Oh, the guy in the off-Broadway showing of West Side Story. Antonio something or other. She’d almost told him she loved him, but his ex-girlfriend came back into the picture, which snipped her out of it.

Could Zach be her one? Even after all this time and despite their difficulties? Back when she’d helped him in high school, she’d wanted him and would have given him her all. She didn’t feel any different now. Turning her face toward his finally, she prepared for the first of what she hoped would be many kisses. None came. He wasn’t as close as she thought. Seana stared into his eyes, becoming lost in their depths.

 “Seana?”

“Yes?” She breathed in his spicy, clean scent, wanting to nibble on the muscle stretching from his neck into the top of his white dress shirt.

“Tell me more about the tutoring room.”

“Why? Interested in playing out my fantasy?”

Zach rubbed her knee. His touch seared her skin under her black sequined dress. “But we’re not in a school. There are no classrooms to use.”

The scenario she’d envisioned as a young adult awaited her next move. If there’s ever a time to be bold and spontaneous, it’s now. Quit stalling and take the leap. Feeling naughty and way too frisky to miss the opportunity, she drew circles on his leg with her fingertip. “We can improvise by going up to your room or mine and pretending we’re in a classroom.”

Seconds clicked by. Zach didn’t say a word. Wasn’t he interested? Her palms became clammy. I can’t be rejected again.

Sarah's Review:

Initially this was suppose to be a promo for book 4, Sunset Heat, but once I read the series, I sent C.R. Moss an email asking if we could promo all four.  So that is what is happening here!  Thanks to Decadent Publishing for another great series within the 1NS series.   Thank you to C.R. Moss for giving me the chance to promo this series for her.

These four stories have something more than just the 1NS storyline in common.  The female characters in all four stories are family.  Their cousin Heather sets everyone else up through 1NS service and because they would give her grief, she joined as well.  I loved the idea of family members having a story themselves.  Each story is separate but they are tied together too.  Sunset Temptations and Sunset Heat are two books that really should be read in that order.  Events in Sunset Temptations also lead to Sunset Heat.

I truly enjoyed reading the Sunset series.  Each story was unique for the characters involved.  Each character brought something special to the story and I could relate to each one in a different way.  I look forward to reading more from Ms. Moss!!
