Off The Grid

Review by Heidi Lynn

First, I would like to thank Goddess Fish Productions and Karyn Good for providing me with this book so that I may bring you this review.

Huge secrets, drama, mystery, betrayal, cover ups, murder, romance, twists and turns on every corner kept me on the edge of my seat. Off the Grid sure satisfied my craving for that mystery I have been craving.

Sophie had to be my favorite characters in the book. She has a huge heart of gold wanting to help every patient in need. However, Sophie puts her own life on the line to help out a very pregnant Kellie. I loved the fact that they had scenes at a medical clinic in Vancouver.

Off the Grid's book cover does not do the book justice.
  4 out of 5 kisses.

Exert
“I’m here,” he said.

Sophie let out a laugh. She pushed back what she resolved were the last tears of the day. Rolled her eyes, looked up into his. “Lucky you.”

His lips stopped a hair’s breath away from hers. His hands slipped through the strands of her hair. “Exactly.”

Caleb’s lips were so warm against hers. In the dark, behind closed eyelids, she felt the swipe of his tongue. More warmth. No. Heat. And she wanted to absorb it all.

Her mouth opened and she let him in, free to do what he wanted as long as he didn’t stop. It calmed the crazy in her head, leaving her feeling less lost and helpless. Less hopeless. He pulled her in closer, his hand on her waist, one on her cheek. Not pressing. Not leading.

Her hands fumbled over the wrinkled linen of his 164

dress shirt, over the unbuttoned section at his neck. Down sleeves rolled up to his elbows, across his broad back. The scrape of stubble on his neck and along his jawline was rough under her mouth. The stiff strands of hair at the base of his skull tickled her fingertips. It turned soft and tempting as she moved upwards and grabbed hold and captured his mouth.

He had big hands. Better to hold the world up with. They cradled her head and she sighed. He was preparing to stop the kiss. It was in the little nips, his own sigh. When he lifted his head her eyelids were slow to drift open, weighted down by passion and exhaustion. She didn’t want to let the moment go.

SPOTLIGHT: Love Repeated by Nancy Corrigan

Love Repeated by Nancy Corrigan

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Young lovers, Kyle and Ronnie, had the world ahead of them at seventeen. Stubbornness, misunderstanding and a mother’s influence forced them to forge their own paths. A decade later, neither can find love.

Ronnie always thought it was easier to move on than deal with the pain and hurt of past mistakes. She made plenty of them, but so did Kyle and her parents. Kyle knows the moment he touches Ronnie that he still loves her. He won’t repeat the past and let her leave him a second time.

It takes a tragedy and a secret to reunite them, but their passion returns in a rush along with regret and guilt. To have love, they’ll have to overcome their issues—before her mother’s sin takes Ronnie away, once and for all.

~Excerpt~

She raised her gaze to his. The bruises on her face twisted his gut, but her hazel eyes mesmerized him, exactly as they had a lifetime ago. His words got stuck in his throat. Finally, she shook her head, breaking the spell she’d cast over him. “Ten minutes in town and I run into you. Talk about luck.”

“Good luck, I’d say.” He motioned toward the bruise on her cheek. “What happened?”

She folded her arms under her breasts and shifted her gaze to his chin. “Armed robbery.”

She lied. He could see it in her eyes. He stepped closer. “Don’t bother lying to me, Ronnie. I know you too well. What really happened?”

Her brows pinched. “I haven’t seen you in years, Kyle. You don’t know me anymore.”

He supposed she was right. He’d thought they’d spend their life together. She’d proved him wrong. Still, she drew him like no other woman ever had.

He brushed a finger over her bruised skin. “Come on, doll. Talk to me.”

She grinned. “I always loved that nickname, you know.”

He matched her smile, couldn’t help it. “And you’re changing the subject.”

“Armed robbery, like I said. I really don’t want to talk about it.” She snatched her purse from where it had fallen on the ground and pulled a hundred-dollar bill from her wallet. She held it out to him.

He glanced from it to her face. “If that’s for saving you, keep it. I don’t want your money. Never did.”

She rolled her eyes. “Please, Kyle. I didn’t come back to this shithole town to fight with you. I was wondering if you could go back into the bar and pay for my drink. I’d rather not go in there again.”

He worked his jaw and fought his irrational anger. It wasn’t her fault he’d reacted like a jerk, but he’d always hated the fact that she had more money. He took the cash and crumpled it in his hands. “Why did you?”

~About the Author~

A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with woman strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm.

She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

8 Weeks (Time for Love Book 1)
By Bethany Lopez
Review by Heidi Lynn

First, I want to thank Bethany Lopez and Nichole Kuhn for providing me with the copy of this book so I may bring you this review. 8 Weeks by Bethany Lopez is the first book in the Time for Love series.

WOW!! What an emotional roller coaster ride Bethany Lopez took me on with her book 8 Weeks. There were times when I needed to stop the ride to get a tissue or two.

Cal made a monumental mistake that put his marriage in total jeopardy.  Shelly hesitantly agreed to give Cal 8 weeks to redeem himself or the marriage would be over. Cal amazed me by the dates he chooses to take Shelly on. They were so sweet and thoughtful. My favorite was the Hunter Hayes Concert. Some dates were even out of his comfort zone.

Shelly and Cal have an amazing set of best friends. They have been there for each other through thick and thin since their high school days.  Each of them brings something unique to the story.

My favorite story line between the friends hands down is Gabby and Scott’s. My hope is Bethany follows up with that story line in the next book. Can’t wait to read it to find out!

8 Weeks by Bethany Lopez gets a 4.5 out of 5 kisses rating from me.

Five Stages of Falling in Love By Rachel Higginson

Five Stages of Falling in Love

By Rachel Higginson

Summary

Elizabeth Carlson is living in the pits of hell-also known as grief.

Her husband of eight years, the father of her four children and the love of her life, died six months ago from cancer. Grady’s prognosis was grim, even from the start, but Liz never gave up hope he would survive. How could she, when he was everything to her?

Six months later, she is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and get the kids to school on time. Both seem impossible. Everything seems impossible these days.

When Ben Tyler moves in next door, she is drowning in sorrow and pain, her children are acting out, and the house is falling apart. She has no time for curious new friends or unwanted help, but Ben gives her both. And he doesn’t just want to help her with yard work or cleaning the gutters. Ben wants more from Liz. More than she’s capable of ever giving again.

As Liz mourns her dead husband and works her way through the five stages of grief, she finds there’s more of her heart to give than she thought possible. And as new love takes hold, she peels away the guilt and heartache, and discovers there’s more to life than death.

The Five Stages of Falling in Love
By Rachel Higginson
Review by Heidi Lynn
First, I would like to thank NetGalley, Rachel Higginson, and Mark My Words Book Publicity for providing me with this book so that I may bring you this review.

Within the first chapter Rachel had me hooked line and sinker into the book. The water works started when you realize not every story holds a happy beginning. Keep the tissues handy.  This was Liz’s story. She had already met her soul mate in Grady, fallen in love with him, and lived her happily ever after. This is not a story of Liz falling in love. It is a story of her learning to live again after love left her life.

I grew to care about each one of the characters for what they brought to the table. Needless to say Grady’s loss left a huge inpact on each of the characters. Liz was very overwhelmed with grief and raising her four kids alone. Emma, Liz’s sister, was her rock since Grady passed away! There were some very touching moments between Liz and her kids that pulled on my heart strings. Ben, I totally admired. He knew how hard it was for Liz and the kids to move on from their loss. Ben was very supportive, understanding, empathetic, patient, amazing with her kids, and overall great guy.

Liz was blessed to find her soulmate once in Grady. What she didn’t expect to find was the blossoming friendship with Ben. It was like Grady hand picked him to watch over his family.

I enjoyed reading the book so much that I didn’t want to put the book down. I rate The Five Stages of Falling in Love by Rachel Higginson 5 out of 5 kisses.

All That's Unclaimed (Sunnydale Days Book 2)

by Constance Phillips
Review by Heidi Lynn

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Constance Phillips and Nicole Kuhn for providing me with the copy of this book so that I may bring to you this review. All That’s Unclaimed is a sequel to All That’s Unspoken. However, as a reader I felt it could be read as a stand alone.

Having read All That’s Unspoken I was equally impressed with All That’s Unclaimed. This time around the book was Anna’s and Ben’s story. However, it was great seeing Nate and Hailey again in this book.  Anna and Ben had been friends for ages before he got the courage to ask out Anna. It was so adorable because he was and being so bashful about it. He had wanted to ask her out so many times but never could get up the courage to do so. It wasn’t until his Mom’s terrible accident in the horse stable that he realized how short life really is.

Ben’s Mom invited his father to come to the stables and help out with the horses. However, Ben had to deal with past daemon issues he had with his father. With his father around it was very painful for Ben to be around him.  Anna had a good line in the book “All I’m going to say is he’s the only Dad you’ve got.” Ben’s cute reply was “Mom has always been plenty-enough Dad for me.”

I rate this All That’s Unclaimed 5 out of 5 kisses.

Always a Bridesmaid by Melinda Curtis

Always a Bridesmaid
The Bridesmaid Series:2
By Melinda Curtis

Nicole Edwards has walked down the aisle as a bridesmaid thirteen times! Thirteen times! In an effort to change her luck, this master baker plans to give up waiting for Jake – who doesn't know she’s alive – sell her business in New York City, buy a food truck in Los Angeles, and find her own happily ever after.

Chef Sean O’Malley  could use Nicole’s dessert skills at his restaurant in New York City. In fact, he’s banking on a joint venture with Nicole, although he hasn’t yet approached her about it. When he learns during a pre-wedding event they’re both working that she’s moving to L.A. because she’s giving up on Jake, he decides to give her a crash course on how to be noticed. Sean has, after all, three younger sisters. He knows how a woman’s mind works. But he doesn’t factor in how his heart works or how easily it could be broken.
 Melinda Curtis writes the Harmony Valley series of sweet and emotional romances for the Harlequin Heartwarming line (book 4 coming 3/2015). Brenda Novak  says: “Season of Change has found a place on my keeper shelf”.  Melinda also writes independently published, hotter romances as Mel Curtis. Jayne Ann Krentz says of Blue Rules: “Sharp, sassy, modern version of a screwball comedy from Hollywood's Golden Age except a lot hotter.”

Always a Bridesmaid
The Bridesmaid Series: 2
By Melinda Curtis
Reviewed by Heidi Lynn

I would like to first thank Melinda Curtis for providing with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.  Always a Bridesmaid by Melinda Curtis is the second book in her Bridesmaid Series. The first book was titled The Wedding Promise. While it was part of a series as a reader I feel it could be read as a stand alone.

Many lines in her book were very comical had me cracking up laughing.  “Weddings where you were dressed like a bedazzled Barbie? Parading him in a line with other bedazzled Barbie’s?” “You make him sound like a legendary unicorn. He’s just a man.” “When did you become Tim Gunn from Project Runway?” “Get real, Jake is Mr. Big from Sex-in-the City and I’m Liz Lemon from 30 Rock.” I couldn’t get enough of these quotes in the book!

Nicole has walked down the isle 13 times!! Yes, 13 times and never been a bride!! She strongly believes that she is cursed and will never find Mr. Right. Whenever Nicole is around a man that she is attracted to she totally freezes up. That can lead into some embarrassing situations for her. She thinks she is invisible around men and they don’t take notice of her. Little does she realize that someone close to her has taken notice.

Always a Bridesmaid by Melinda Curtis gets 4 out of 5 kisses.

Stacy's First Time by Ruby Foxx

Stacy's First Time
by Ruby Foxx
Genre: Taboo Erotica

Ruby Foxx is the pseudonym of a New York Times Bestselling Author
When Stacy is thrown out by her mom, she seeks help from the only person she has ever really trusted. Her estranged stepfather.

Ray only wants to care for and protect Stacy, but when she climbs into his bed in the middle of the night looking for comfort like she did when she was a little girl, they both find themselves falling prey to an overwhelming attraction neither of them can deny.

~~~~~~
Warning: This taboo story is for adults only. It contains erotic encounters between a sexy older man and an untouched young woman. Inside you'll find graphic sex scenes that will thrill and excite you, including oral sex, multiple orgasms, and more. All characters are 18 and over.
STACY'S FIRST TIME is a quick, fast-paced read.
About Ruby Foxx
When I write stories, they’re short and sweet. And I don’t mean romantic sweet. I mean the sweet, melting hot eroticism of two lustful lovers succumbing to their passion.
And when I say short, I mean I get to the point and pound it home. Fast.
You’re reading these stories to get to a good place, right? yes, I know what you want. J So I’ll entice you, seduce you, then guide you to the climax.
Believe me, it’s all about the sex. But isn’t that what you want?
Ruby Foxx says
I’m the alter ego of a New York Times best-selling erotic romance author. Think of me as the evil twin. ;)
My other half may write erotic love stories that push the limits, but I don’t know what limits are. When you crave the titillation that only the fulfillment of your wildest fantasies can give you, look no further than my short, sexy stories.
I’m a very bad girl who will ignite your desire, propel you to the heights of passion, and leave you panting but satisfied.  You know what I mean. ;)
My stories will bring you right to the heat, from foreplay to climax in a quick heady read that lasts exactly as long as it needs to. With so very much to do and so little time, a gentleman should not overstay his welcome.
Stacy's First Time
By Ruby Foxx
By now you should know by now that I am a big fan of Ruby Foxx. So, you know I just had to read this book. Yes, I know it is very taboo in nature and might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It is about a girl named Stacy who shows up at Ray her former Step Dad's door late one night after her Mom threw her out. Stacy an Ray always had a great friendship. She felt safe and secure with him. Stacy's Mom had been married to Ray for several years before they divorced due to her infidelity. Ray hated leaving her behind but they kept in touch over the years.  Stacy was not the sweet innocent 10 year old he once knew. She blossomed into a beautiful woman. As all Roxy's books she jumps right into the story and doesn't hold anything back.
I am giving Stacy's First Time by Ruby Foxx 4.5 out of 5 kisses.
