REVIEW: Heat by Jamie Schmidt

Style and seduction collide in Jamie K. Schmidt’s Heat—sure to please fans of Fifty Shades of Grey—as the world’s best-dressed men and women shed their clothing . . . and their inhibitions.

On the run from her abusive fiancé, ER doctor Mallory Bryant arrives at her sister’s Connecticut resort desperate for a place to restore balance to her life. But Club Inferno is more than a haven for the rich and fashionable. Beneath its elegant facade is an erotic playground where dominants and submissives play out their fantasies. At first, Mallory is wary of Max Spencer, the martial arts trainer acting as her bodyguard—until he introduces her to passion so intense she wants nothing more than to surrender to his touch.

As one of Club Inferno’s most skilled doms, Max enjoys taking Mallory to the limits of pleasure. It’s a dangerous proposition, and as their sensual games draw them into a relationship beyond the boundaries of pupil and master, Max starts spiraling out of control. But when Mallory’s violent past catches up with her, Max knows what he must do: draw her closer than ever before, even if it means risking a surrender of his own.

Heat is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

First off thank you as always to Random House and NetGalley for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

Ok if the title to this story doesn't indicate how hot it is let me just tell you... Whew... I need a cold shower after reading this. I absolutely loved Max, his character was so well written. I also like how diverse he was and that Ms. Schmidt broke the stereotype that just because a man is into fashion and likes to sew he is gay. I think that was so wonderful.

I will admit that when I first read Mallory she bothered me, but that is because I have such little tolerance for women who put up with abusive relationships, but with that said I can also see that she was quick to get out of it. I liked that she did see that he couldn't help David and got away from him, sadly it took something big for it to happen but it happened. It was also great to see her grow and strengthen so quickly.

I think a big part of what helped Mallory get better was the fact that Max could understand what she'd been through with his own past. He also suggested to do something that makes her feel more secure. In the end this book not only shows a BDSM relationship in a very positive way, but it also shows great healing.

Happy Reading... Adri
