Erin's Review
Ace and Melody have one thing in common, they have both been betrayed by the people they trusted the most. Ace's way of dealing with it was to turn to drugs and alcohol, Melody's way of dealing with it was avoidance. These two seem like an unlikely pair, famous rock star, college student...but underneath the surface they have more in common that they both think.
I adored Melody. She's spunky, sassy and her first meeting with Ace had me laughing. She's real. Her relationship with her best friend Sarah is one every girl should have. There are very few people she trusts and it's hard for her to let someone new in, so when she first meets Ace face to face, she wasn't expecting what she got.
Ace is sexy as hell. He's also sweet, unpredictable and trying to start over from being kicked out of his band. His struggle with addiction is something that cost him everything. With the help of his brother Nate, he tries to start life over again and find his place in the world. Never in a million years would he have thought he would have found everything he was looking for in Melody.
Ace and Melody's story is one of hope. Of starting over, and forgiveness. It teaches you that you have to sometimes let go just so you can move on. There were times it seemed Ace relied on Melody a bit too much but don't we all do that at times? They fall hard and fast for each other and there was enough sexual tension to make the reader hot and bothered. The supporting characters were amazing too. His brother Nate, her friend Sarah, her brother Luke, her mother, Gram...each of them played their own little part in helping the main characters learn from the past. It isn't always easy to fall in love with a broken person. But this story shows that sometimes, something beautiful can come from two broken people trying to learn and grow.
