He’ll guard her body all night long.

Former Marine Jude Wilde’s motto has always been “burn bridges and never look back,” so nobody is more surprised when Wilde Security is hired to protect assistant district attorney Libby Pruitt, the woman he loved and left. Although she makes it clear she wants nothing to do with Jude, they’re forced to fake a relationship for her safety. He can’t ignore the heat still simmering between them, and when her stalker’s threats escalate to attempted murder, he’s left with no choice but to whisk her away to a friend’s safe house in Key West, FL.

Cooped up in paradise together, Jude begins to chip away at Libby’s resolve to hate him. But even as she gives in to his proximity and her body’s demands for his, she refuses to fall for his charms again. Maybe a torrid affair in the sun is exactly what she needs to get him out of her system. But when her stalker tracks them down, can they escape the steamy Key West night without anyone getting hurt?

Tonya Burrows | Writing has always been my one true love. I wrote my first novel-length story in 8th grade and haven't stopped since. I received a B.A. in creative writing from SUNY Oswego and I'm now working on a MFA in popular fiction at Seton Hill University.

When I'm not writing, I spend my time reading, painting (badly), exploring new places, and enjoying time with my family. Give me a good horror movie over a chick flick any day. (And, let's be honest, I'll take a bad horror movie too!) I'm a geek at heart and pledge my avid TV fandom to Supernatural and Doctor Who. I'm also a big fan of The Voice. What can I say? Guilty pleasure.

I share my life with two dogs and a ginormous cat. We live in a small town in New York, but I suffer from a bad case of wanderlust and usually end up moving someplace new every few years. Luckily, my animals are all excellent travel buddies.

Excerpt

At the shout from the bedroom, Jude shot to instant wakefulness and grabbed his fi rearm from the end table where he’d set it before stretching out for the night. Something was wrong. Libby wouldn’t call out for him. Not unless something bad was happening.

He didn’t waste time dressing and ghosted toward the bedroom, pushing open the door as silently as possible. If someone was in there with her, he wanted some element of surprise—

He ground to a halt and stared at the bed, his mouth suddenly dry as he engaged his weapon’s safety and placed it on the nearby dresser. Libby lay splayed out on top of the sheets, her nightshirt bunched up around her shoulders, giving him a prime view of her body. Her hand stroked between her legs, her slender fingers sinking in and out of her sex, and she arched with the movement, her eyes screwed shut, her body taut. Struggling for a climax, she needed somebody to give her a little something more, somebody to love her right, to raise her up and over the mental block keeping her from coming.

That someone should be him. Always him. Only him.

Fucking hell. All the blood drained from his head at that possessive thought, making him dizzy as fuck, and his erection jumped from half-mast to ahoy matey so fast he nearly exploded right then and there. He dipped a hand inside his shorts and gripped himself to stop it from happening, squeezed until the line between pleasure and pain blurred, and a groan rumbled from his chest without his consent.

Libby’s eyes snapped open. “Oh God! What are you doing in here?”

“You called for me.”

“You’re crazy. I wouldn’t—” She started to sit up and withdraw her hand, but Christ, he couldn’t let her. He wanted to watch her pleasure herself more than he’d ever wanted anything in his life.

“Don’t.” His voice was pure gravel, but he didn’t bother clearing his throat. He pumped his hand up and down his shaft in hard strokes. “Let me see you. I need to see you.”

Her gaze drifted down his body, her eyes widening at the sight of his straining cock. After a second that seemed to last for years, she slowly settled back against the pillows and let her knees fall open. Her hand returned to her pretty pink sex, and as he watched her dip her fi ngers inside herself, his whole body started to tremble.

“I did call for you,” she admitted and dropped her head back to stare at him through heavy-lidded eyes. “I was imaging you doing this, your fingers right here where mine are, stroking me.”

He couldn’t find his voice, couldn’t tear his gaze away from the slow slide of her fingers in and out. Unconsciously, he matched his strokes to her rhythm.

“I want you,” she gasped, and he saw he wasn’t the only one trembling. As her thumb pressed against her clit, her legs shook so hard she vibrated the bed. “I want you, and I know I shouldn’t. I can’t help myself.”

“You want me?” He was panting now, about to go off like a teenager making out in the backseat of his first car. He wanted to be inside her when he did, and it took every ounce of control he could muster not to jump onto that bed and pound into her until they were both screaming. “Say the word, Libs. That’s all you gotta do.”

She caught his gaze, held it. “Yes.”

Sarah's Review:
Thanks to Tonya Burrows for creating a group of brothers that I fell in love with in ONE chapter!  I read this one so that I could read book 2, which will be reviewed tomorrow so keep your eyes open!

So in the very first chapter we meet Jude, Camden and Vaughn, Jude's twin brothers, Reece and Greer.  What made me fall in love with these brothers?  Jude flicking a wad of paper, hitting Vaughn in the face and then that same wad of paper hitting Camden in the face.  Then the chaos of brothers ensues.  I was on the train heading to internship and started laughing out loud.  Good thing that train was close to empty!

Wilde Security is hired to protect an ex of Jude's and even though Jude doesn't want to take the job, he is forced to because of his ex's father and Greer.  Little does Libby know that her world is about to get flipped upside down when Jude appears in her office with one of the lawyers that she knows.  She thought she was imagining it, but then when she realized that is actually was Jude, she hauled off and decked him!  I love that part!!

When the threats on Libby's life become more prevalent and more dangerous, Jude decides to take Libby somewhere safe and not even her father will know where she is.  When they arrive at the safe house, we meet Seth, who will be in the second HORNET book coming out in 2014.  (Tonya, here is your advance notice, Adri and I both want this book).

I loved watching Jude and Libby reconnect!  They are both stubborn but you can tell that Jude really did love her and the reason for their split was really heart breaking for Libby.  I loved when the truth came out about everything!
