REVIEW: Want It by Jennifer Chance

In the latest tantalizing Rule Breakers novel from Jennifer Chance, an irresistible alpha male follows his ex into a deadly standoff—and reignites a heated affair.

For Erin Connelly, being a good girl isn’t such a bad thing. She’s working her dream job at a Boston art gallery and staying out of trouble, which is more than she can say for her deadbeat mom. Unfortunately, her mother’s latest misadventure lands her in the clutches of a Mexican drug lord. Now the only person who can save her is the one man Erin has no business asking for help: the sexy-as-sin army ranger who just so happens to be her former high school sweetheart.

Zander James is no gentleman—and no officer, either, thanks to Erin. Four years ago, she made a call that terminated his highest aspirations . . . and their relationship. He’s never forgiven her, but when he learns that Erin’s embarking on a half-baked rescue mission, he sure as hell can’t let her go alone. Now, with a treacherous enemy lying in wait, the electrifying tension between them may just be Zander’s undoing. Because while he may be able to keep Erin alive, he can’t promise to keep his hands off her.

Praise for the novels of Jennifer Chance

ADRI'S REVIEW:

I would first like to thank NetGalley and Random House, Loveswept for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

Ok now if you all have been following this blog for a while you know very well how much I LOVE second chance love stories. And you also know that I have been following this series from Jennifer Chance for a while time.

Erin is a great character that is willing to do anything for the around her, even someone that hasn't bothered to worry about her most of her life. She is willing to go through everything to help her mother (a character I really didn't care for, which I think was Ms Chance's idea). Erin has always had to work at keeping a head when all those around her are reckless even the love of her life. In the end that recklessness is what causes the end of their relationship as teenagers.

Zander (who by the way I loved the name) is sexy, strong, but so filled of anger. Hurt has been such a strong motivator for so many years for him. But so has his love for Erin. He is even willing to put his life on the line for her. Ms. Chance has done a good job of writing such a sexy character I wished I could go through the book and pull him out to do all kinds of things to him... Or better yet, let him do to me what he did to Erin in the book.

I HAPPILY give this book FIVE big wet kisses.

Happy Reading... Adri

REVIEW: Fake It by Jennifer Chance

As her sizzling new series continues, Jennifer Chance sparks some serious combustion between a sexy biker and a corporate go-getter who’s ready to let her hair down.

New grad Anna Richardson works hard—so hard that she’s given up having a romantic life. Anna has even convinced her friends that she’s dating an amazing guy—who they’ve simply never met. But now Anna has a wedding to attend and needs to produce the hottie she’s been lying about for the past six months. Enter Jake Flynn, her infuriating, motorcycle-riding, jaw-droppingly gorgeous neighbor, who’s more than willing to fake it for a weekend. In fact, Jake won’t be satisfied until things get real.

Though Jake is only playing the role of adoring boyfriend, he’s starting to feel the heat, and judging by Anna’s sweet blush, so is she. Letting chemistry this intense go to waste would be a real shame. Soon, though, the thin line between fantasy and reality fades. Jake may not be what every buttoned-up fast-tracker wants, but he’s sure as hell what Anna needs. And if she takes a ride with him, their adventure never has to end.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from other Loveswept titles.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

First off thank you to NetGalley and Random House for approving us so that we can write this review.

Though this story reminds me a lot of the many different fake wedding date movies and stories Ive seen in the past it has something those others dont have... Jake Flynn. The sexy motorcycle riding bad boy, who also has the sweetest heart by taking care of things for his grandmother. I have to add that this story is steamy as all hell. The chemistry between Jake and Anna is great. I also like that Jake brings out a side of Anna that she didn't think she had. One that shows others that there is nothing she can't have or do if she wants it. Also it is great to see how Jake takes a workaholic Anna and teaches her how important and easy it is to take time to just enjoy life.

Anna's character at times can be pretty frustrating. Especially when she gives into her friends and the way that they think. But it is also understandable why she has this need to be perfect. The things that she  went through after losing her dad is what formed her into the person that she is as an adult. She has this need to make sure everything is always perfect, which is why the relationship with Jake is perfect for her.

Of course this is the second book in Jennifer Chance's Rule Breakers Series, but can easily be read without having read the first one... Though I have to say... Rock It is such a great read, there is no reason NOT to read that as well.

Happy Reading... Adri

TEASER REVEAL!

“Jake, the wedding would completely suck for you,” Anna protested. “My ex is a nightmare and you would hate all of my friends. You would think the whole thing is ridiculous—because it is.” He just watched her, maddeningly, his smile curving as she tried to sputter out her refusals. “You don’t want to do this. Trust me.”
“I just said I did.”
“But . . . you can’t . . . you wouldn’t . . .” Anna stopped, flustered. What was happening here? Was she actually turning down a viable date? “There’s so much you would have to memorize about Dave. There’s no way you’re going to want to do that.”
Jake just lifted his brows. “You know, for someone who’s just met me, you seem to know a lot about what I would and wouldn’t want to do.”
“I don’t! I mean, I can guess. But I just . . . can’t.” Anna swallowed. “Look, I appreciate it. If I strike out tonight, I’ll call you. How about that?”
“That sounds good.” Jake signaled to the bartender. “So I guess I should make sure you have my number, then.”
“Oh, well yes. I guess. Or, you know, I could just—” Before Anna could complete the sentence, Jake had a pen in his fingers. They were both leaning on the bar, their faces inches apart. He tipped the pen to its side, sliding its base alongside her jaw. The cool metal on her flushed skin startled her, and Anna’s gaze jumped to his. The challenge in his eyes was unmistakable.
“Hold out your hand, Anna,” he said, as if they weren’t in the middle of a crowded bar, in front of everyone.
“That’s not necessary,” she said quickly. “I have other people’s cards—you can just use—just write on one of those.”
His gaze grew hotter, more intense. “That’s no good,” he said. “You might lose it.”
Anna hesitated, then something was triggered deep inside her, and she felt a dangerous flicker of pleasure. She knew that flicker, remembered it from somewhere, even as life and work and responsibility had taught her to keep it doused, out of commission. It had been a long time since she’d let that fire burn.
But now Jake Flynn was positioned in front of her with gasoline and a blowtorch.
Someone cleared his throat beside them, and a disgruntled voice rang out. “Excuse me, I’m Gary, and your friend Lacey—”
“Take off, Gary,” Jake said without turning around. His gaze held hers. “Anna?”
Anna held out her hand, and Jake held her arm steady, cradling it with his fingers. Sensation rocketed through her at the intimate touch, intensifying sharply as she felt the smooth slide of ink on her skin. He wrote slowly, sensually, the pen tracing wickedly silken lines on the hypersensitive skin on the inside of her wrist, all the way down until he reached her palm. By the time he was finished, Anna was amazed she was still conscious. Then he glanced at her.
“Think it’s dry? Or should I blow on it?”

REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Rock It by Jennifer Chance

Rock It

Jennifer Chance

“Jennifer Chance’s Rock It is perfect for those of us who like our books the way we like our rockers: smart, sexy, sweet, and a damn good time!”—Lexi Ryan, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author ofUnbreak Me

BLURB:
Jennifer Chance unleashes her hot new series with the tale of a smoldering rock star and the fangirl who catches his eye—and finds herself living out her wildest dreams.

Lacey Dawes is a total pro at the talent agency where she works, and it doesn’t hurt that IMO Worldwide Media represents Dante Falcone. The rock god has starred in her fantasies since she was sixteen—and remains her secret crush to this day. So when Dante picks her to be the interim manager on his Dream It tour, Lacey can’t believe her luck. Handling Dante is sure to be the most exquisite, spine-tingling, nerve-wracking mix of business and pleasure ever.

Although Dante is grateful for the adoring fans who scream for one more of his full-throttle, soul-searing songs, being surrounded by a cadre of corporate types backstage is wearing thin. Then Lacey shows up. Yeah, she’s organized, smart, quick to get him what he wants before he knows he wants it—but Dante senses there’s something else going on with sweet, sexy Lacey. One kiss tells him what that “something” might be . . . and makes him hungry for more.

Dream It Tour: Day 1 (Excerpt 7)

Lacey squinted into the early-morning sun as a new car slid into the abandoned parking lot that IMO had commandeered to get the band out of town as quietly as possible. The limo was black and understated, but it still screamed money. Sure enough, Dante Falcone stepped out of it as if it wasn’t actually four thirty in the morning, looking as fresh and unrumpled as the multimedia star he was. He stretched, turning around to look at the opulence his fame and talent had netted for his band, then nodded to the crew members who descended on him, offering him coffee and doughnuts and God only knew what else. Lacey was so caught up just watching the mere magic of him interacting with his people that it took her a few moments to realize he was heading her way. She straightened, squaring her shoulders. I’m a professional. A professional professional. I am good at my job, and I’m only here for my job. Nothing he says will get under my skin, or my clothes, or—
She swallowed, her mind suddenly veering off on a tangent of Dante patiently disrobing her, one clothing item at a time.
Probably better to stop that line of thinking right there.
At that moment, Dante’s head turned to her, as if he could read her thoughts. Struggling to think only of contracts and paperwork and tour details, Lacey plastered on a very professional smile, and waited the remaining few seconds as he ambled up to her. “Glad to see you could finally join us,” he said. “I was beginning to think you didn’t care.”
Despite herself, she stiffened at his teasing rebuke. “Hey, give me a break,” she said. “I had a lot to do to get everything ready.”
“Well, now you’re going to have a lot to do taking care of me.” He pointed a finger at the bus. “This is my bus?” he asked.
At Lacey’s nod, his grin got wider. “Then that’s where you’ll be, too.”
“What?” Lacey shook her head, knowing her voice had been reduced to a squeak, just like that. “That’s entirely not necessary. I can sleep any—be anywhere. I don’t need to be with you every second of the day. I’m not really your manager, Dante, we both know that.”
“Nope, you’re not,” Dante said, agreeing with her just a little too quickly. “But on this tour, you are my handler.” He slipped off his sunglasses, then fixed her with the heat-stoked gaze that had graced a million and one paparazzi photos since the guy had barely been out of middle school. “And Lacey, for the record? I’m in the mood to be handled.”

About Jennifer Chance

I come by romance honestly, having spent several years writing adult romance and entering romance contests through Romance Writers of America–including finaling twice in the prestigious Golden Heart contest and winning once. But despite these and other contest wins, my first published novel came not in adult romance, but as a writer of YA historical fiction (you can read all about my Elizabethan spy girls stories, the Maids of Honor, here.)
Still, despite my love of Elizabethan spies, I could never quite give up those super Alpha contemporary romance heroes. So, in the summer of 2013, I decided to see if perhaps I might still have a romance or two up my sleeve.
I wrote a tale about a girl whose biggest high-school and college crush–a rock star–suddenly becomes her biggest client, only now she has to be professional and not betray the fact that she’s completely in love with the guy. It was a fun, sexy, romantic fantasy, and I suggested the idea to my agent… who asked what other ideas I had in addition to this story. Shortly after, the Rule Breakers series was born.
To separate these books from my historical work, I adopted the name Jennifer Chance. I am now pursuing my dreams (pretty much round the clock as it turns out) and am THRILLED to be able to have four e-books coming out in 2014 and early 2015, all with Random House LoveSwept’s New Adult romance line.
As to what will happen from here, who knows? But as long as there is a story to be written and an HEA to be had, I’ll be the one over in the corner, tapping away on my keyboard.

Adri's Review:

First off I need to thank NetGalley and Random House for the approval to review this story... I enjoyed it so much.

Even though this isn't a second chance romance story, it really has that feel to it. Lacey has spent the better part of her teens and early twenties infatuated/ love with Dante. A Rock God who started off as a teen heartthrob in his younger years. Her life is turned upside down when Dante signs with the talent agency she is a junior account executive with. When Dante asks for Lacey to go on tour with Dante and his band as a temporary manager, she isn't prepared for all the wonderful things that happen.

One of the things about this story that I most enjoyed was the fact that even though Lacey has always been in love with Dante, she is exposed to a new aspect of him when she spends so much time with him. Dante isn't just the typical out of control rocker. He is actually so much deeper than others think.

Lacey is a fun character who loves the fact that she gets to spend time with Dante, but also worries about how her past obsessive behavior will be seen when others find out about it. I also found that she was a funny character as well as a brave one. She is willing to put the things that scare her aside to help improve things for Dante.

There are also some amazing support characters that I hope to get see things happen for in a future book.

I hope you take the time to purchase and read this book, as I promise you wont regret it.

Happy Reading... Adri.
