Damon Sinclair is a simple Marine with simple needs and after five years of active duty in the sandbox, he’s ready to settle down and feed people’s souls. But when the rest of his Brothers sign up with the 1Night Stand dating service, the opening night of his new restaurant includes a date with Madame Evangeline’s hand picked choice.
Helena Blake has focused her entire life on her education and legal career. But, there must be more to life than legal briefs and the Styrofoam take-out palace decorating the interior of her refrigerator. And finally, a year after signing up for the 1Night Stand service, Eve has found her a date.
Wine is poured, incredible food is served, and sparks fly creating a total seduction of the senses as Damon prepares a birthday celebration that Helena will never forget.

Excerpt:
“He planned the meal for six-thirty, but he wasn’t sure whether you preferred a white or a red wine and that will tell him a lot about what to serve first.”

Helena lowered the coffee cup.  “My wine selection?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Again with the quirky, amused smile.  What did the waiter know that I don’t?

“Wines say a lot about a person.  The dry, whites, that’s a focused individual, and they prefer clearly defined foods, with smoky accents like cheese.  Whereas the patron who enjoys a fruity white, they’re more likely to indulge in a spicy dish.”   The lyrical cadence to his words was absolutely fascinating.

Helena lowered the coffee cup after just a sip of the bitter black brew.  It was far less than her stomach wanted, but it would have to do for now.

“And red wines?”

“Reds are complicated.  First there are the blushes, a shy palate prefers the blush because they know what they’re getting, but they really want to experiment.  They just don’t know how.  The merlots, they’ve got sophisticated tastes, but very clear on what they won’t try.  And burgundies…” the waiter sighed, dragging the word out until the breath caught in Helena’s throat.  “Burgundies are hungry for something they’ve never had before.”

“And you can tell all of that, by what wine a person orders?”  Her heart thudded against her ribs, a curious thrill of anticipation.  If this waiter was any example, this restaurant was going to be a smashing success.

“Yes, ma’am.  Which wine would you prefer?”

“Can you tell what wine a person will order?”  Good Lord, she was flirting with the waiter.  Her gaze flicked to the empty seat across from her and then back.  The inexorable draw of the man’s blue eyes just too much.

All the noise and chaos behind him faded, as he leaned in with a secretive smile. “Sometimes.”

“Surprise me.”  Her teeth flicked over her lower lip, scraping what was left of the lipstick off, but she found she didn’t care.  He wasn’t looking at her mouth.  Or correction, the waiter wasn’t looking just at her mouth.  Instead, he seemed to be taking her whole body in and she straightened, almost self-conscious of the appraisal.

“I’ll do that.”  He reached past her to pick up a napkin and then flicked out the black one and spreading it over her lap.  “My name is Damon and it will be my pleasure to serve you tonight.”

Sarah's Review:
Damon has signed up for Madame Eve's 1NS service along with his fellow Marines.  His date falls on the opening night of his restaurant.    Damon has hired non active duty Marines or family of a Marine for his new restaurant as a way to give back.   I had to giggle when Damon describes Matt working the bar.   When Damon's date arrives, she mistakes Damon as a waiter, but that is when Damon puts the magic on.

Helena is a lawyer that was asked to be partner in his law firm, she celebrates with a 1NSWhen she mistakes Damon as a waiter, she believes that she was stood-up.  Damon doesn't correct her either, but begins to break down the walls that Helena had up.  At one point, Helena wondered if Damon was actually her date but was playing a game, so she played along.  Then she came to the conclusion that it didn't matter.

The description of the food that Damon provided in addition to the way the food should taste was amazing!  I have never eaten at a fancy restaurant before, so hearing the descriptions was a sensual thing for me.   I love that Damon took his time and found a way to make Helena comfortable with him.
