Excerpt
I strolled down the street away from my car, into the quickening dusk, my spirits ascending as the rich tones of his deep voice swelled like the notes of a violin through the phone, my heartbeat quickening with desire. I was wearing a sand-colored linen suit, looking very elegant on the outside, but inside I was all quivering need. I longed to be loved by someone new, I’m not sure why, maybe because we had obsessed so many times over these videos and pictures on the Internet. And also, there was so much I couldn’t talk about with Steve, I was always too afraid I’d say something wrong, some little thing that I didn’t mean to sound hurtful but he would take it that way. I was living with the legacy of a Holocaust survivor, not an easy thing for someone whose parents were not only hostile to each other, but they were both poor listeners. They talked over each other. The scene was getting really heavy, and I was reeling from everyone’s trauma, past and present.

A hint of a breeze rustled my hair, but I didn’t notice it—that’s how far gone I was, shivering even in that warm, humid air, my teeth chattering. To the west, the sky loomed expansive, cloudless, a deep purple with pinks and lavenders lingering along the horizon. I was blind to the beauty around me. I focused completely on his voice, breathing deeply when he started speaking again, a shudder running though my body. A sweet lemony scent from the abundance of evening primrose filled my nostrils.

Come here now and have sex with me,” he said.

My husband’s expecting me. I told him five minutes ago I’d be heading home around now. I’m not a good prospect. You’d be better off looking elsewhere.” To my ears, my own voice sounded a plaintive longing as I demurred, my days of impetuosity long gone. But I couldn’t stop these raw feelings of physical want that kept rising inside me, along with the need to be adored without all the baggage and recriminations that colored my relationship with Steve.

Oh, baby, I need you more than he does.”

I feel the same way.” My desire for him was bubbling within me, in mortal danger of spilling over and causing some mishap. “But I’m married. I can’t sneak around, not even when we’re not getting along, like now.”

He’s more important than your happiness?” He sounded animated.

At the moment…yes.” Couldn’t he see that I couldn’t just take off—that my husband would kill me?
I told him good-bye as firmly as possible and clicked off. I was driving my car with a mile to go yet when my cell phone rang again like a five-alarm fire. I fumbled for it, picking it up at the last ring, idly wondered if it was Steve calling to yell at me for being late. He was probably hungry, waiting for me to eat. I floored the accelerator.

I’m nearly there,” I said without listening for Steve’s scold.

Without my help?” His breathless, deeply masculine voice carried through the airwaves, invading the inner recesses of my car. “Without me…?”

Who’s this?” I stalled, although I instantly recognized that singular voice. I felt a prickle of heat warming my groin.

You sound luscious when you’re uncertain…makes me want to kiss you.”

Erin's Review
The synopsis of the book caught my eye immediately. What I thought would be tawdry tales of a married couple and their lovers ended up being a smartly written story of every side of swinging, the good, the bad and the ugly.
The characters are real, their situations are real. That's what I loved about this story. All too often we get wrapped up in the romance of erotica and the sometimes unrealistic expectations that it may bring.
The journey that Shelly and Steve go in in their quest to be swingers isn't all hot sex and hot couples. It's at times a mess. No attraction, too much attraction, no chemistry, too much chemistry...in other words, real life.
Steve isn't every woman's dream that has Shelly swooning over his every word. He's kind of a jerk. He could honestly be any one of our husband's. Shelly could be any one of us. At no time were you thinking he talked her in to this or vice versa...boundaries were set. Rules were made.
Joanna Kadish took a taboo subject and applied it to a real life setting, complete with all the feelings that would come with wanting to dabble in this lifestyle. It brings the phrase, Be careful what you wish for, to home.
A solid 4 star read for me and a book that is definitely one of the more well written reads that I have read over the years.

Hailey Holloway has a serious knack with running from her problems. At the first sign of trouble she can be found lacing up her Nikes and hitting the road. Dacea has been patient with her, but a man can only handle so much. He told her before that he would not chase after her again and is he nothing, if not a man of his word. Katherine is more than happy to pick at the wound that festers between them. If she picks enough, she just might make one or both of them bleed.

War is on the horizon. Together, they need to convince the leaders of Blue and Silver to join their crusade against the Council, but can they put their differences aside and stop fighting long enough to help those in the line of fire?

EXCERPT

“Hope. That is your answer?”
He tilted his head slightly at her tone. “It is.”
“Why should I hope for something that is doomed?” she asked plainly. “What would going back solve? We’d be happy for what? Five minutes before some new drama puts us at odds. I’m tired of fighting all the time. Loving Dak is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’s like loving a frickin’ mountain. He’s stubborn and unyielding to the point that I just want to beat my fists against him but that would do nothing but make me bleed. I can’t take being built up again just to have him tell me how I’m supposed to live, feel or love.”
She gave a short humorless laugh and shook her head. “Hope is one of the worst promises I could give myself. Because if I allow myself to hope for him to come around, and it doesn’t happen…I will be broken. Dak is hard headed, inflexible and has arrogance coming out his ass. He is my Mate, and God help me, but I love him for all his faults, even if he can’t love me for mine.” While Silas listened he reached over and brushed his thumbs over each of her cheeks clearing away the tears. She batted his hands away and with a clear voice she continued, “If I walk away now, I can keep what little is left of me together. I can hold on to the cracked pieces that haven’t completely shattered and go on living. It might not be the best life, but it will be under my own terms.”

He should have been happy at her declaration. Silas could have his sister without Dacea’s interference. They could leave tonight and travel, go wherever she wanted for as long as she wanted. They could connect. But he could either have the Hailey that was full of pop culture trivia and was always good for a smile with her infectious laugh. Or he could have the reserved.

Hailey who watches the clouds pass by from the window of her room, never granting more than a brief comment to the mundane. He could have one or the other, but she couldn’t be both.
Silas may not have spent much time with her yet, but he knew who his sister was.
“Hailey,” he put his hands on her shoulders and tilted his head to the side trying to catch her gaze. “There is always reason to hope.”

ADRI'S REVIEW:

First of all I would like to thank Reading Addiction Blog Tours for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review, but I would also like to take a second to apologies that I didn't get this up on the date we'd agreed on. I ended up having a scheduling conflict with work and was not able to get to it in time. So again I apologies to Katie O'Boyle for not getting this up on time.

Ok I am not going to lie, at first I did have a bit of trouble to read this book, I think part of that was a part of the subject matter. But it was also what makes this book so real. What Gianessa, Justin, Joel and many of the other characters in this book deal with is real, and something that not many authors are brave enough to write into a book, So for that I applaud Ms. O'Boyle for being brave enough to do.

Now Justin is a bit of an ass, but at the same time he can be very sweet and wonderful with Gianessa. I loved the history behind the area where they are at. Gianessa is a strong character, with a great head on her shoulders, even if there are times when she wasn't always so wonderful. I did find myself crying towards the end of the book, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I came to love these characters so much, so when they went through something I went through it along with them.

Happy Reading... Adri

WILDE NIGHT is the third book in the OLD TOWN COUNTRY ROMANCE series. It can be read as a STAND ALONE NOVEL or as part of the SERIES.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

Thank you first off to Reading Addiction Blog Tours and Savannah Young for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

Ok I will start by saying that I was attracted to this book because of the country boy part of it. And as it says it can be read as a stand alone. Though I wont say you wont get curious about the two other brothers love stories, because I know I did.

I liked Hunter, he had a nice Alpha male thing going, but was still very down to earth and knew how to just have fun with his brothers.
Katie and her situation is unique and I liked how the author was able to use it and be believable.

I also have to admit I really liked the ending to the story. I thought it was extremely sweet.

I will say though that one thing really did bother me about this story... As someone who grew up in NJ I couldn't really picture the whole country thing going on in that state. Now even though it is a relatively small state, I do know there are lots of areas I still don't know so it is possible, but just not where I grew up.

Happy Reading... Adri

PROMO & GIVEAWAY: Just For You by Rosalind James

Just For You
Rosalind James
Contemporary Romance / NOVELLA

Date Published: July 31, 2014

No shirt, no shoes, no … problems?
Hemi Ranapia isn’t looking for love. Fun, yes. Love, not so much. But a summer fishing holiday to laid-back Russell could turn out to be more adventure than this good-time boy ever bargained for.
Reka Harata hasn't forgotten the disastrously sexy rugby star she met a year ago, no matter how much she wishes she could. Too bad Hemi keeps refusing to be left in her past.

Sometimes, especially in New Zealand’s Maori Northland, it really does take a village. And sometimes it just takes a little faith.

NOTE: This 36,000-word (120-page) novella begins about six years before the events of Just This Once, and yes, it gets a little steamy at times, because Reka and Hemi are just that way. It can be read as a stand-alone book, even if this is your first escape to New Zealand.

Excerpt:
She’d noticed him even while she’d been walking down the aisle in the wharenui, wearing the stupid strapless dress of blood-red satin that Victoria had chosen, a dress she was definitely not going to be wearing again, a dress that had “bridesmaid” written all over it. She’d been supposed to be paying attention to her pace, and instead she’d been looking at the man sitting at the end of the row, up there to her right. A man who was looking right back at her. A mate of the groom’s, she knew, because Victoria had told them all he was coming.

Hemi Ranapia, the starting No. 10 for the Auckland Blues, one of the year’s new caps for the All Blacks, and about the finest specimen of Maori manhood she’d ever seen. His dark, wavy hair cut short and neat, his brown eyes alive with interest as he watched her. A physique to die for, too, his shoulders broad in the black suit, his waistline trim, the size of his arms and thighs making it clear that the suit hadn’t come off any rack, because that had taken some extra material.

She’d stood in her neat row to one side of the bride throughout the service, had done her best to keep her attention on the event, and had felt his gaze on her as surely as if he’d been touching her. She’d had to will herself not to shiver, and the look he sent her way, unsmiling and intent, when she walked back up the aisle again told her she hadn’t been imagining his interest.

She’d still had what felt like hours of photo-taking to come. Standing around endlessly, smiling in the sunshine, arranging and rearranging herself according to the photographer’s instructions, being flirted with by one of the groomsmen, with Hemi in and out of her view all the while. His suit coat off now, his tie loosened, white shirt stretching across chest and shoulders. A beer in his hand and a smile on his face, having a chat with the other boys, being approached, at first shyly and then with enthusiasm, by the kids.

And by the girls, she saw with a twinge of jealousy that made no sense at all, as one after another of them smiled for him, touched her hair, touched his arm. It looked to her like every unattached woman at the wedding, and more than one of the partnered ones as well, was going out of her way to chat him up. And he wasn’t exactly resisting.

But he was looking at her all the same. Every now and then, she glanced across and his gaze caught hers, and she saw an expression on his face, an intensity and a heat that were making her burn.

By the time the photography was done and she was released at last, the wedding party moving into the wharekai so the eating and drinking and dancing could begin, she was well and truly warmed up, and tingling more than a little in every single place she could imagine him touching with those clever hands, the hands she somehow knew would handle a woman as deftly as they handled a rugby ball.

The band began to play, the bride and groom stepped into their first dance, and she saw him edging his way around an animated group towards her, a glass in each hand. He reached her side, handed her the flute of champagne with the flash of a smile.

“Think you earned this,” he told her.

She took it, and he touched his glass to hers.

“Cheers,” he said with another white smile, the heat in his gaze unmistakable at this range. He tipped his brown throat back and drank, and she mirrored his action, felt golden bubbles popping against her tongue, the cool liquid sliding down her own throat. Drinking together like that somehow felt as intimate as kissing him, and the tongues of flame were licking every secret spot now.

“Took your time, didn’t you?” she asked him with a cool she wasn’t even close to feeling.

He laughed. “Didn’t want to seem too eager. Doing my best to be smooth here, but it’s hard going.”

Another long drink, another long look as Victoria and Mason finished their dance and the band began another number, a fast one, and couples started filling the floor.

“Think I can get a dance?” he asked.

“Mmm, I think you could,” she said. “Maybe so.”

Note from Sarah:
I would like to thank Heather for taking this book since I wasn't able to get it read in time due to dealing with the death of my best friend.

Heather's Review:

Relentless by Ana Wells is the first book by this author featuring the Marsh Brothers.  Jordan Marsh, a billionaire CEO, has been friends with Michaela Donovan for about a year.  They met through their respective partners at the time.  Jordan was dating Joyce, a co-worker of Michaela’s.  Michaela was engaged to Noah Jenkins, a professor at Harvard.  The couples had double dated regularly.  Jordan realizes quite quickly into their double dates that he is attracted to Michaela.  He keeps seeing Joyce only because she is his way to also see Michaela. Michaela is clueless about Jordan’s attraction to her.

Apparently Joyce and Noah had also been getting along quite well and were caught by Michaela in a compromising situation.  Needless to say Michaela breaks off the engagement and calls Jordan to tell him what she witnessed.  Jordan sees this as a chance to cement his friendship with Michaela and to further his own ends of some point becoming more than a friend to her.  About six months of being friends only Jordan seized his chance to change his circumstances when he escorts Michaela to her company Christmas party.  Michaela has a little too much champagne and one thing leads to another with Jordan spending the night, but not much sleeping is going on.  After Jordan and Michaela get together, an attempt is made on Michaela’s life, someone burns her house down, you find out that Jordan is working with the FBI to try and nab someone who is stealing secrets. All this happens in a matter of days.   Jordan is relentless in his pursuit of Michaela, but for someone who has been burned by love before she gives in pretty easily.  Jordan has had a year to decide, plot and scheme to become more than Michaela’s friend and Michaela gives in, in a matter of days to his persuasion.

This is the first book that I have read by this author.  While I felt that the story was fairly well written, the plot could have used more development.  At times it seemed rushed.  All the events, except for the back story occur with a few days time frame.  There is an element of suspense that could have been drawn out more. The characters seemed to be fairly well developed and interacted well with each other, but at times I felt they were not quite realistic.  Jordan is a sweet, easy going fun loving guy, who as soon as they are intimate, turns in the ultimate demanding alpha male.  Michaela, who has trust issues from previous relationships, forgives Jordan repeatedly for omissions (lies) and other things without very much fight at all.  I find it hard to believe that Michaela has been friends with Jordan for a year does not know that he is a billionaire until her brother (an FBI agent) tells her this at a family dinner.   I would have liked to have seen more realistic interaction between the characters.

I would definitely give this author another chance and read other books in this series by her.  I would have to say in a star point system I would give it 3 and ½ stars.  On a heat level about a 4.
