REVIEW: Can't Always Get What You Want by Chelsey Krause

Fans of Ruthie Knox, Rachel Gibson, and Molly O'€™Keefe will love this deeply romantic and uplifting debut novel about losing everything you thought you wanted—and getting exactly what you need.

Sophie Richards has been looking forward to a much-needed girls'€™ night out: a Rolling Stones concert, a few drinks, a distraction from her grueling nursing shifts in acute care. But when her best friend bails, Sophie gets stuck with a blind date.

Although Brett Nicholson may be the hottest carpenter alive, and Sophie may technically be single, she isn't exactly on the market. Six years ago she found The One. He was everything Sophie dreamed a man could be--€”and then she lost him. In an instant, her whole life changed, and she forgot all about happily ever after.

But as she gets to know Brett, Sophie starts to wonder about the future for the first time. With a broken heart still clouding her mind, jumping into a new relationship feels impossible. When she's in his arms, walking away feels even harder. Now Sophie faces an impossible choice: living in the past or choosing love in the here and now.

Advance praise for Can'€™t Always Get What You Want

"This is a funny, heartfelt story about moving on, a touching debut from a very promising author. Romance lovers looking for both a giggle and a cry will get what they need from Can'€™t Always Get What You Want."--Stephanie Pegler, editor, Chicklit Club

REVIEW:

First of all I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Loveswept for providing with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

WOW, ok I have to say this right now, this book will suck you in. I started to read it and suddenly I saw that it was late and I needed to go to bed and get ready for work. Then as I kept reading (at work mind you) I didn't want it to end. I absolutely loved this book and I can't stop saying that. This book is extremely emotional and will warn you now that tissues at least 3 boxes of them need to be kept handy at all times.  I loved the growth that Sophie goes through, throughout the book. Brett is a very strong character who in his own way helps Sophie see that its time to let go. Ms. Krause was able to get many emotions for me, that I can't believe she is a first time author.

The only thing that I can complain about this book, is that I had a really bad headache from not sleeping enough hours before going to work.

I give this book FIVE very enthusiastic kisses.

REVIEW: Posses by Laura Marie Altom

Will you marry me? Those four little words should be a dream come true. But for Ella Patton, they’re the start of a waking nightmare. For despite the insatiable desire she feels for Liam Stone, marriage is out of the question—divorcing her abusive husband, Blaine, would be too dangerous to even contemplate. Besides, Ella couldn’t ask for anything more than the life she and Liam share: a scalding hot passion that’s totally outside the bounds of “I do.”

Liam has hit a brick wall. His fortune can’t buy Ella’s freedom from the oppressive monster the law recognizes as her husband. Blaine will take any opportunity to bring Ella back under his authority, no doubt exacting a terrible revenge as punishment for nearly slipping away. But Liam has a force greater than money and influence on his side: Ella’s love. She sparks his most unstoppable determination—and ignites pleasures that no man should be able to possess.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

Thank you first of all to NetGalley and Random House Loveswept for providing us with a copy of this book so that we can bring you this review.

So I enjoyed seeing how strong Ella and Liam's faith in their relationship was even after Liam finds out about Ella still being married. I also enjoyed the fact that Ella continues to grow as a strong character, standing up to her ex-husband and fighting for her freedom from such a bad relationship.

Now I have to admit that I didn't enjoy a few things about this book. For one I didn't like the fact that there were times that I personally felt there was some drama for drama sake. Which brings me to the other thing that I didn't like was that certain parts felt a bit unrealistic in low things happened.

This is the reason that I can only give this story a three kiss review.

REVIEW: Once Loved by Cecy Robson

He's the campus golden boy. She'€™s picking up the pieces of her broken past. But in Cecy Robson'€™s scorching novel of second chances ”perfect for readers of Monica Murphy and J. Lynn €”their differences only make their connection more explosive.

Every memory Lety Tres Santos has from her childhood comes with a scar some emotional, some physical. Her father is an abusive drug addict, and her mother enables his destructive behavior. College offers Lety a fresh start . . . until her father finds a way to ruin that, too. Now, after losing her scholarship to kick off junior year, Lety must somehow stay in school, pay tuition, and turn a deaf ear to the whispers that follow her. And she intends to do it all without Brody Quaid€'s help.

Brody is a lacrosse star, a 4.0 student and as a freshman, he fell hard for the beautiful and spirited Lety. But their relationship crashed and burned because he couldn'€™t break through the walls she'€™s put up around her heart. With Lety hurting more than ever, Brody strives to win her back and make her believe in real love and true partnership. That will mean opening up secrets locked away in his own past and trusting someone more than he'€™s ever dared.

Lety knows how painful it can be to depend on the wrong man. She also knows how much Brody wants to do this the right way. But it takes more than sizzling desire to move on and build a future together.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

As always I will first thank NetGalley and Random House Loveswept with providing us with a copy  so that we can bring you this review.

OMG is it possible to be in love with a book? Well if it is this one sure is the one. Lety is a strong independent woman. She proves that she doesn't need anyone to help her, because she doesn't want to depend on them. But at the same time she learned along the way that there is nothing wrong with letting others help you and to be there for you as support. I also loved how Lety was willing to live with the wrath of her family, but stood up to Carlos something no one else in her family had done.

Brody, I totally want to kidnap and keep in my basement. He is sexy, loving, loyal and strong, not only physically but emotionally as well. He helps to show Lety that there isn't anything wrong to just let someone into her heart, and that no everyone is out to hurt her. Even though he has is own past that he doesn't like to talk about, he accepts Lety's.

It was also great to see Evie and Teo from Once Perfect in this one. As well as a little more of a glimpse into Sophie and Killian.

I give this story FIVE very solid and hard kisses.

Happy reading... Adri

REVIEW: Full Contact by Sidney Halston

Sidney Halston returns to steamy Tarpon Springs, Florida, where a hell-raising bad boy prepares to get down and dirty for the woman he loves.

How could she have been so stupid? When Jessica Cross decides to give her violently jealous boyfriend—the otherwise influential and charming Dennis Stavros—a second chance, she very nearly becomes a statistic. After weeks of healing from a broken rib and collapsed lung, and with Dennis behind bars, Jessica finally feels ready to come out of hiding. But will she ever be able to take a chance on love again with someone new?

Mixed martial arts fighter Slade Martin knows he has a bad reputation. Hell, he's probably earned it. So it won’t be easy to convince beautiful, vulnerable Jessica that she can trust him—that from the moment she walked into his life, she’s been the only one he’s wanted. Powerful and confident, Slade knows he can honor his vow to protect Jessica body and soul. Winning her heart will be another matter . . . but a woman like Jessica is worth the fight.

Praise for Sidney Halston’s Against the Cage

“A steamy and fun romance that will leave readers begging for more! Sidney Halston is an author to watch!”—New York Times bestselling author Cherry Adair

“Halston’s new series opener creates an organic and sensual dynamic between Jack and Chrissy that makes an easy buy-in for readers. And if the story isn’t endearing enough, Jack’s feisty Chihuahua/pit bull mix will have readers instantly hooked and eagerly awaiting the second series installment.”—Library Journal

ADRI'S REVIEW:

I would first like to thank Random House, Loveswept and NetGalley for providing us with a copy so we can bring you this review.

OK... Where should I start? This is a great story, I liked how Slade changes his way of being for Jessica, but there were a few things I didn't really like about him. I personally think he needed to do something about his anger management issues, especially at times when dealing with Jessica. Her past shows she hasn't been through the easiest of relationships, and the fact that there were times he even intimidated me I was surprised not to see Jessica cringe away. Add to that his past dealings with women, I didn't think there was much of a redeeming quality about him. But he does prove to be a great strength when needed.

Jessica was a nice character, strong and willing to get out of the negative situation she was in. What I didn't really like about her was that she kind of gives in Dennis but stands up to Slade... To me it was a bit confusing on her character.

Now don't get me wrong the story is actually very good and I enjoyed it over all. I liked that Jessica does finally stand up to not only Dennis but her parents as well. She has lots of support around her and she learns a few lessons along the way.

I would have to say that a few of the supporting characters caught me more than the main characters did. I can't wait to know more about Cain and Violet as well as Frances and Tony. I look forward to more in the future from those characters.

I will give this story a four kiss rating.

Happy Reading... Adri

REVIEW: Until You Find Me by Amber Hart

Amber Hart pushes contemporary romance to its wildest limits in this heart-pounding novel, the story of a girl who travels to Africa to protect the legacy of one man . . . and stays for the love of another.

Raven Moore, a twenty-year-old college student from Michigan, feels out of place in the beautiful, treacherous jungles of Cameroon, staying in the habitat where her father gave his life to help protect endangered gorillas. He left home years ago; now Raven refuses to return home until she unravels the truth about his last days.

Raven certainly doesn’t count on crossing paths with a handsome young hunter—especially one as charismatic and intense as Jospin Tondjii. Instantly, she’s hooked. But Jospin is hiding a dark truth: He is the heir to a powerful poaching empire, part of a ruthless black market that is responsible for the dwindling gorilla population.

Their fathers may have been enemies, but Raven and Jospin forge a bond that goes beyond blood, a relationship that is tested as Raven draws closer to the source of her father’s death. Can she and Jospin bear the weight of the secrets of the wild—and the secrets of their pasts? Or will the rain forest destroy them both?

ADRI'S REVIEW:

As always I want to thank Random House, Loveswept and NetGalley for providing us with a copy of this book so that we can bring you this review.

OK I have to admit when I first started to read this story I didn't think that I was going to be able to finish it. It wasn't easy for me to read about poaching or the things they do to hurt animals. I also didn't think that there was going to be redeeming qualities for Jospin, but Ms. Hart did a great job of bringing it all together. My heart hurt for Raven and the anger she carried around with her most of the time. She was so full of anger and hate, but I loved the fact that a gorilla was able help her heal. Which is one of the reasons it was so hard for me to read the parts where the poachers glorified and justified what they do to the beautiful animals.

I will say a big thing of this book though that I REALLY didn't like (of course other than the poaching), was that this book ends in a bit of cliffy. So be prepared to have to wait for the next book and read that one (whenever it becomes available).

I give this book four kisses, mostly because of the cliffhanger and the poaching scenes.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

First of all I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House-Loveswept for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

I know its a little late as it being past christmas, but personally I feel that this book would work just as easily as a anytime book as it does as a christmas one.

Hayley is such a cute and fun character, though she has been badly hurt in the past, she finds herself quickly falling in love with Daniel and his girls. Which I must say are awesome little characters. She is playful, loving and very understanding with the girls.

Daniel and what he has been through breaks my heart, there was even one point in this book that I found myself grabbing at the tissues. To be a single parent then have someone try and threaten your happiness after already having gone through so much. But I have to say that Daniel handles himself great during that hard time. To the point that he is able to help Hayley see that she really does belong in Montana with him.

Again even though this is titled like a Christmas story, I highly recommend picking it up and reading it now.

I would give this book five very solid kisses.

Happy Reading... Adri

REVIEW: Control by Laura Marie Altom

Description

Laura Marie Altom’s heart-stirring new romance will have you believing in the power of love—and passion—to heal even the most wounded souls.

Never again. Fleeing her hometown to escape an abusive marriage, Ella Patton swears she has surrendered to a man for the last time. But while living under a new name, she meets a kind, handsome stranger who seems different—and will be moving on soon, making Ella reckless enough to break her rules. With a kiss, the stranger opens the door to desires Ella believed she would never know. Then he makes an unexpected proposal.

A dot-com billionaire from humble beginnings, Liam Stone is a man whose past has made him compassionate yet guarded—much like the beautiful, secretive woman he stumbles upon in a remote Southern town. Though he intends only a dalliance, when the time comes to return home to San Francisco, Liam cannot bear the thought of leaving her behind. But when he tries to entice her to join him, he finds the tables turning dizzingly fast. Suddenly a little seduction becomes a huge battle for one thing: control.

Ella and Liam’s story continues in Possess, coming December 2014!

ADRI'S REVIEW:

I would first like to thank Random House and NetGalley for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

My heart breaks for Ella. The things she went through before meeting Liam couldn't have been easy, but it also shows her strength to be able get away from the situation. Though she makes a few choices that aren't always very smart, she does make sure that they are things that are best for her. I like the fact that she proves to Liam time and again that his money aren't what attracts him to her but more of his humble beginnings.

I have to say there are times where I really like Liam, but others where I find him to be a bit of an ass. Because of the way he can sometimes be I kind of don't think he is proving himself to be the best thing for Ella.  At the same time I can see how not knowing how to win her over, since the tricks that he has used in the past don't work on her, can frustrate him. For a man who becomes used to getting whatever he wants, she poses such a fun challenge for him.

Perfect for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, the Club Sin series continues with Freed, a wicked, wild novel from USA Todaybestselling author Stacey Kennedy.

Mary Schmidt knows only too well how thrilling a Master’s touch can be. Her husband, Charles, had been her ultimate fantasy, a seducer in the erotic dance of dominance and submission. Elliott Foster is dazzled by Mary. He instantly knows that she’s the woman he’s been waiting for—a woman who turns games into need. “Tender, emotional—and smoking hot!”—Savanna Fox, author of the Dirty Girls Book Club series, onClaimed

“Bared is a seductively haunting tale of control and surrender that will tantalize existing fans of the series while enticing new readers into the passionate world of Club Sin.”—Eliza Gayle, New York Times bestselling author of Submissive Beauty

“Bared is a hot blend of raw sensuality, and Stacey Kennedy is an author to watch!”—Eden Bradley, author of The Dark Garden and Dangerously Bound

ADRI'S REVIEW:

OK I will admit that when I first got this story I was very excited with getting to read more of Club Sin, so imagine my surprise when I start to read it and find out that Mary and Elliott don't like to play there. But don't let that little bit of information fool you. This book was fantastic, still gave you the sexiness that we have come to expect from Stacey Kennedy and this series. And even though our two main characters are on the mature side they are still sexy, enticing and intriguing. I think the fact that they are mature adds so much to the story, the fact that Mary has lived a love and connection to a Dom like the one she finds herself experiencing with Elliott before sets her apart from every other D/s couple. I loved this book and continue to enjoy this series immensely... I look forward to reading what Stacey Kennedy and Club Sin has for us next.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

First of all I would like to thank Tasty Book Tours, NetGalley and Random House for providing us with a copy of this book so we can bring you this review.

Ok let me start off by saying I am in love. Totally and completely in love with this story. Though my heart breaks for both Shane and Brooke and the situation they each find themselves in. Brooke's strength to keep going and fighting even when she really wishes she could breakdown. She also does such a fantastic job of being there for Shane and showing him that, there is nothing he can do to make her feel like he is less then her. Though Shane does so often not feel like he is good enough for her, the way he is when he returns from war, injured and no where close to being the man he used to be, makes him feel even less worthy of her. But even if he doesn't want to admit it he really is her beacon of hope and even his memories of Brooke help him through his darkest moments.

This story is so real and honest. Anyone with someone they love in the military will not want to miss it. I know reading it had me thinking of my boys and preparing for whatever they could be dealing with. Wendy does such a wonderful job of helping us see into the thoughts of a war hero.

REVIEW: Draw Me In by Regina Cole

Description

In Regina Cole’s steamy novel of hot ink and delicious angst, two tortured artists take a leap of faith—but the past threatens to tear them apart.

After her parents pull the plug on her college fund to finance their nasty divorce, Hailey Jakes is desperate to pay her own way and finish her degree in graphic design. She can hardly believe her luck when the sexiest guy she’s ever seen hires her to be the receptionist at his tattoo shop. With sea-blue eyes, jet-black hair, and full sleeves of tattoos on his muscular arms, Neill Vanderhaven looks like the kind of guy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. In fact, he’s mesmerized by her—and it doesn’t hurt that she’s talented as hell.

But Hailey and Neill have more in common than instant chemistry: They’re both carrying serious baggage. Hailey’s parents split after years of blowout fights and sloppy affairs. Neill just got out of something serious with a woman who loved her bad habits more than she loved him. When they take the plunge on a new relationship, they’re both breaking their own rules.

But then a terrible misunderstanding brings Neil’s worst fears to life, and their connection threatens to come crashing down. What they have is more than skin-deep, but now Hailey and Neill need to decide whether the kind of love that lasts forever is worth such exquisite pain.
ADRI'S REVIEW:
First of all I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House for providing us with a copy of this book so we could bring you this review.
I really liked the character Hailey, she is young but is quick to start thinking about how she is going to solve her problem when she finds herself no longer has the support that she should. I liked how she took it upon herself to look for a job and worry about her own future.
I feel bad for Neill, he's been through so much through his young life. Even though he is only in his mid-twenties he's lived a life of a man for way more than that. Though, I have to say he is kind of hardheaded and stupid at times, a man after all...lol. But I really want to smack him when he doesn't bother to listen to Hailey and assumes the worst out of her.
I have to say that I like Roger he was funny, and there are a few other moments that I found myself giggling, through out the story.

His life was never easy. Hers wasn’t supposed to be this hard. They come from different worlds, but fate lures them together in a way neither expected in Cecy Robson’s raw, steamy series debut—perfect for fans of Monica Murphy and J. Lynn.

Evelyn Preston’s future once looked perfect—until her wealthy father was caught in an embezzlement scandal and took his own life. Alone and struggling to pay her college tuition and bills, Evelyn finds a job as a waitress at the ultra-hip nightclub Excess, where she used to have more in common with the privileged private-school clientele than her fellow staff members. As their attraction intensifies, Mateo is determined to find out what nightmares are lurking in Evelyn’s past—even if that means tackling his own to save her.

ADRI'S REVIEW:

First of all I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

Wow, what a powerful book. It hit on subjects that were triggers for me I won't lie, but I loved the way it was handled. The author Cecy did a fantastic job of handling it.

Mateo is a sexy latino man who sacrifices himself for those he loves. Evelyn once had a perfect life... well from the outsiders point of view, but her world crumbled around her one day. The things that no one thought was that she was going to pick herself up, and make something of herself. Yes she has setbacks, but that is kind of expected when she starts to remember everything that has happened to her in the past. Life has hardened Mateo, but not to the point where he doesn't know how to love, its actually the opposite, he loves so much he sacrifices himself for it. But even with all his hardness he is gentle and sweet with the women in his life that he loves. Now it doesn't hurt that he is sexy, strong, and latin.

I have to tell you all, I couldn't stop reading this book. I was so attached to it that I even read while I waiting in line at Wal-Mart, Toys R Us and the Post Office during Black Friday shopping.

I definitely look forward to reading the next book in this series. Cecy Robson, is definitely going to be one of my new go to authors.

REVIEW: What a Lady Demands by Ashlyn MacNamera

Description

Readers of Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, and Sabrina Jeffries will love Ashlyn Macnamara’s novel about a smoldering new love that is threatened by past betrayals.

Viscount Lindenhurst cannot seem to find a governess who meets his impossible standards—until Cecelia Sanford becomes the first woman to interrupt the widower’s brooding in years. Lind had returned home from the Napoleonic wars, broken in body and soul and longing for his wife’s embrace, only to find her changed. Before they could reconcile, an accident struck their son and claimed her life. Now enter Cecelia, with her soft curves and sharp tongue—a tempting distraction, it is true, but not a welcome one.

Past the usual marrying age and haunted by a scandal of her own, Cecelia soon finds herself caring for both the child and the man. The viscount is brittle and even abrupt at times, yet she cannot deny the attraction that stirs her body in his presence. Moved by the deep sense of abandonment that tortures his soul, Cecelia aches to fully awaken Lind’s heart from its rancorous slumber—if she can just keep their pasts from destroying a second chance at love.

Praise for Ashlyn Macnamara

“Ashlyn Macnamara is a born storyteller, weaving tales rich in angst, humor, and history as she treats readers to the steamier side of Regency. Her inventive prose has secured her a place on my auto-buy list, and her memorable characters have secured a place in my heart. Don’t forget to set your morning alarm, though . . . you’ll be reading far past your bedtime!”—New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer McQuiston

“Ashlyn Macnamara brings all the elegance and romance of the Regency to life.”—New York Timesbestselling author Tessa Dare

ADRI'S REVIEW:

Thank you once again to NetGalley and Random House for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

Once again Ashlyn MacNamera has taken me on a journey through time. She has such a great way of transporting a reader to the time of Dukes, and Nobility. I loved the fact that Cecelia wasn't this perfect little woman that had fallen from grace. She shows from the very first chapter the naughty nature that she has. She is also not afraid to stand up to anyone for what she believes in. Lind is an ass, he is arrogant and so full of anger and rancor. Its so bad that he risks losing Cecelia to all that anger he holds on to. It brings that cant see the forest past the trees saying to mind.

Now I will give you a tissue warning  for this book. I will be the first to tell you I ugly snot cried during quite a bit of this book. I cried not only for Cecelia and some of the things that happen with her, but also for Lind and Jeremy there is so much that happens with both of them, the hardships they have gone through and the way that Lind deals with them aren't the best, leaving Jeremy to deal with the fall out.

There is one more book at least for this series at least and personally I can't wait to read what Ashlyn has for us next.
